Objective
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of this project is to create a unifying platform for strengthening the position of visual arts and achieving its more positive perception in the capital by means of a multiple-day event / festival BLAF – the Bratislava Art Festival, which focuses on presenting public and private galleries and the related events that also represent other types of art. The goal of this project is to start an active and long-term cooperation of cultural institutions – galleries – together with a strategic marketing of their activities aimed at various target groups. It is the project’s ambition to enhance the awareness of the visual art itself, as well as to present it in forms attractive for audiences of all ages within the scope of a short period with strong promotion in media.
PURPOSE, BENEFITS:
The project offers public benefits for the entire society. Events of this type, which have so far been absent in Slovakia, are currently quite favourite abroad and attract considerable audiences. During the 6 days of its duration, the project offers possibilities for a broad presentation of arts, concentrating various visual arts activities within the framework of one ‘umbrella project’. The resulting contribution is greater education, marketing and societal influence.
GOALS:
- To enrich the capital’s offer of cultural events and involve its citizens in the cultural life by means of an event with an educative dimension
- To present artistic, cultural and social activities (exhibitions, lectures, discussion forums, auctions, concerts, workshops for adults and children)
- To provide promotion and marketing of both public and private cultural institutions
- To ‘popularise’ good-quality Slovak visual art outputs that so-far received little attention
- To start an active and long-term cooperation of cultural institutions
- To turn the event into a “strong brand” organised annually
The project consists of three program levels:
- an offer of special programs of selected galleries (workshops, concerts, education programs, etc.) taking place during the festival in the respective galleries
- an offer of selected established existing format, such as the Pecha Kucha Night, Voices Live, Auction Of Contemporary Art accompanied with an exhibition, series of discussions entitled Art Under a Microscope, etc.
- an offer of various events supporting other art forms, e.g. the Project’s Opening Ceremony at the Courtyard of SNG; concert and weekend events for families with children complemented with a rich cultural program; concerts, dance and theatre performances, workshops, etc.
